Is there a way to keep a previous balance or payment from appearing on a new invoice?

Q: Is there a way to keep a previous balance or payment from appearing on a new invoice?

A: Yes, this option is set up on the Format page of Client Information. Use the following steps to set up this option.
1. Select Names; Client Info to open the Client List dialog box.

Note: Your terminology for client may differ. If so, adjust these steps accordingly.

2. Select the client and press Enter to open the Client Information dialog box for that client.
3. Switch to the Format page, and in the Bill Format section, scroll down until you see the setting for Previous and new Accounts Receivable balances and Accounts Receivable transactions. Unmarking either or both of these settings will prevent the respective items from appearing on a bill.

Entering a Previous Balance

You can enter a Previous balance with the Following Steps.

1. Open Transactions
2. Select Account Receivable
3. Click on the Yellow Plus sign on the Toolbar.
4. You should now be in the Account Receivable Entry screen Select "Type" Invoice.
5. Select the Client, Date then enter a Description.
6. Below you will see 3 Fields Fees, Costs & Interest. You can enter the Previous Balance in 1 Field or break up the Amount into the 3 fields.
7. Save your entry.
This will enter a new Previous balance for a Client.

Finding out who is responsible for a file

You can find out the Responsible Lawyer on any File in the team database (including those which you are not assigned to) by doing a search.

1. If necessary, open the Amicus Attorney menu and choose Files.

2. From the FILES menu, select Whose File.

You see the Whose File Is It? dialog

3. In the blank text area, type in the text that pertains to your search for the desired File.

4. To define your search according to the text you have typed, activate the field checkboxes according to File Name, Client Name, Matter Name, Client ID, and/or Matter ID. You may select as many checkboxes as you feel are necessary.

5. Click on Search.

The results of your search, if successful, will yield all File information pertaining to what you have typed and the above-mentioned fields. The names of the Responsible Lawyer and Team Members assigned to each File are shown in the rightmost column.
After you have found who is responsible for a File, you may send Stickies to the Responsible Lawyer and Team Members assigned to that File.
